Yes, you read that right. I travelled to Kenya solo and my first kiss was with a Giraffe. Just don’t tell my mother..

In this post I am going to share my adventures in Nairobi, Kenya and how I made the most out of my trip on a budget!

I Stayed at Wildebeeste Eco camp because it looked super relaxing and had that sanctuary feel that I usually crave when I go on vacation. It was also very affordable compared to other hotels in Nairobi. Additionally, they have the best Kenyan coffee and fresh made to order breakfast. You can book here: http://wildebeestecocamp.com/

My Favourite Things to Do In Nairobi, Kenya!

  1. Kiss a Giraffe at the Giraffe Sanctuary in Nairobi https://giraffecenter.org/ Note: Entrance fee is about $10 USD and it is located on Duma Rd, Nairobi
A Great Initiative!

Fact 1) Giraffes are very gentle animals and have antiseptic qualities in their tongues

Fact 2) The easiest wat to get a giraffe to kiss you is to place giraffe food in between your lips and stick your lips out. The giraffe will come and try to get the food out of your lips and SMACK! There is your kiss! There is giraffe food available at the sanctuary and they will help out with the whole process

2. Book a trip to the Majestic Masaai Mara – The Eco- Camp can assist you in booking a tour with a trustworthy and ethical company

Our Tent Right Outside of the Masaai Mara

Fact 1) There is no other safari like the Masaai Mara, why you may ask?

You will see immense amount of Leopards, Lions and Cheetahs unlike any other safari experience. There are also beautiful colourful butterflies buzzing around that gives the park a magical feel.

Fact 2) There are no rest camps and or toilet stops inside the Masaai Maara. Be prepared to experience the bush toilet and pop a squat.

Fact 3) There are no proper game viewing paths the safari vehicles can drive on. Prepare to get stuck and wear appropriate attire. Especially women, a sports bra is very helpful here  =P

Fact 4) The safari will usually begin around 5:30am in the morning and it will be freezing. Bring a zip up sweat shirt or warm jacket

3. Learn about the Masaai Culture and community. You can book your expedition here http://www.maasai-association.org/travel.html
